You can use a 1050 Ti for video editing and your other needs since your on a strict budget if you wish. But know that the card has 128 bit memory which is "The width of the memory bus through which the graphics data are transferred. The greater the bus width is, the more data the bus can transfer in a clock cycle." As someone on this forum mentioned. The more, the better. The GTX 1050 TI only has 112GB/s memory bandwidth by the way. Also the CUDA core isn't as high as some other cards, but will be plenty enough for your budget. But just to mention, a 1060 is pretty good as it is $50 more and has almost double the CUDA cores and 198 bit memory, as well as 192 GB/s memory bandwidth.

Don't be discouraged to buy the card for your budget...

exactly I was worrying about the same..Actually I was stuck between 1060 3gb and 1050ti..I really want to buy 1060 for its 1664 cuda core count and its bus width but 1050ti here in my country costs me 180$ alone(12500 INR) and 1060 3gb is 240$ dats 60$ more.

Damn.. but if you think about it, it's $60 more for double the CUDA core and way more memory bit, if it isn't possible for you to get the GTX 1060 because of your strict budget, definitely get the GTX 1050 Ti, you'll be able to edit and render regardless, it's just the GTX 1060 will make the process quicker. But if getting the GTX 1060 is possible for you, get that. Think about if time more important to you or money? Just think about it to yourself and tell me which one you're deciding on!

correct 1060 have 1152 Cuda 192 bit vs 1050TI 768 Cuda 128 bit .
1060 on 1/3 more powerful as well as price 1/3 cost more then 1050TI.

1060 6 GB Ram have 1280 Cuda

so the only questions, what is the more important for you, time or money?

I know this was answered awhile ago, but it also depends on what program you use. Dave2D on YouTube did a laptop (not exact but decent for comparison sake) gpu comparison and found very little difference between video editing, playback, and rendering times between the two cards on Adobe Premiere. Davinci Resolve on the other hand uses a ton of GPU and GPU memory so benefits from a faster/stronger card. Camatasia and some others use mainly GPU with limited multi-core support so you have limited benefit as well.

His video was titled The Best Laptop GPU - GTX 1050 vs 1050 TI vs 1060 vs 960M vs 970M
He rendered an 8 minute clip in Premiere Pro in both 4K GH4 and 5K Scarlet-W and the difference in times was 14 seconds on 4k and 73 seconds on 5K. These were done using the 1050 Ti 4gb and 1060 6gb laptop versions.

If you use 4K with DR, you can get by with the 1050 Ti (I do on my portable editing rig), and really want something with 8gb memory if your using a lot of effects.

Hope this helps you and others.

Hi
I recently bought Gtx 1050 Ti and now my rendering speed even slower either in GPU or CPU rendering. I use after effects a lot for lot of effects but not 3D and now the rendering time is almost doubled!

Anyone have any solutions? I installed all the drivers.

Thanks.

If your i5 is 4th gen then sounds like your system has a bottleneck, when your system is bottlenecked the whole system will loose performance overall, to confirm this go to The Bottlenecker website and input your system specifications and it will tell you if the 1050 Ti is too powerful or not, hope that helps :).
