So Im going to buy new parts for my computer but I wonder how I will be able to download my motherboards drivers without an optical drive and how will I download games that's on a cd?

Hello... Typically these days we use USB2 sticks and HD space as a substitute... they are faster and easier to use than drives. You can dl what you need using another working computer.

Some of your current CD/DVD games may not be downloadable... and a drive should be used... they don't cost that much, and they can be found used... I use my, 8 year old one with a USB adaptor when I need it, and don't leave it powered or installed in my case or MB.

If you use disks then you need an optical drive. It is possible to operate a gaming with without one. Windows 10 can be downloaded or purchased already loaded on a USB. Obviously with Steam, Origin, Uplay and other gaming clients gaming DVDs aren't needed. Consider an old game I finally installed. Battlefield Hardline is 48GB. That's a LOT of real estate for a DVD. Even a double sided dual layer DVD can only hold 17GB. Going digital, and BACKING UP your data is one way of avoiding that DVD player but the tech. is not dead so it's up to the consumer and their individual needs.

As far as the drivers are concerned you can go to the sites where the drivers are and install them to a USB drive. Like, right now. Go ahead. You still here? But seriously it's your choice if your PC will NEED a drive. With some internet providers bandwidth is limited so those gamers are more inclined to purchase games on DVDs to save on their bandwidth usage. Others don't need to worry about their bandwidth so they aren't help back by any limitations.

You don't need a physical drive but they are nice to have as a backup when you happen to have physical copies. Windows will have close to current drivers or generics that will get you up and running until you start updating and pulling the current versions from the providers themselves.

Reasons why I always keep a DVD or BD drive. Current games are 40+ GB's, for instance WoW is 100+GB and that is days of downloading from slow servers which could be cut greatly in half from the disks.Single sided DVD's under the right compression can hold as much as 25GB of data but a ratio like that is seldom used.

Hi, I have read some reviews and some people have said they had to install a special program to play dvd's but I think it should be good enough for installing software. May get a bit annoying if you have to leave the disk in the drive while playing.
