Hi! I accidentally got my 3TB HDD changed to a dynamic disk, and I want to install Linux on one of the partitions, however you can't do that on a dynamic disk. How can I fix this? Thanks :)

Solution
Is it possible to pass on the OS you're on? If you're on Microsoft's Windows OS, you can use Diskpart to change your HDD back to a Basic Disk but your data will end up being erased. You will have to rely on a third party tool like EASEUS to deal with your drive with data while making progress to a Basic Disk.

About Diskpart,
Open CMD in an elevated command(right click>Run as Administrator)
Type diskpart
Tap Enter
Type list disk
Tap Enter
Type select disk x(the disk listed as your 3TB HDD which is denoted by a number) - if you have only one drive connected then you're only going to see Disk 0.
Type convert basis
Tap Enter
You should see a message stating that...

Might want to follow through this video.

Well my Windows 10 is actually on my SSD, but I would like to keep my files on my HDD. Is there another option?

Buy a copy of EaseUS Partition Master and use it on your 3TB(affected drive). The trial/free version doesn't allow you to convert the drive. Unfortunately to my knowledge free apps won't do what you want to accomplish.

Or you could borrow a blank drive from your friend, backup all your data and then convert it...possible right?

The same thing happened to me a while back. While researching, I found the only way to convert it back is by reformatting the drive and losing all your data. When I added another SSD to my system I just moved all my data off the drive (I spread it out over the other drives) and then just deleted that partition and re-created it to bring it back to normal.
