So, eventually I upgraded my Motherboard from a Gigabyte GA-H61M-DS2 DVI that could not OC my CPU to a Asrock H61M-VG4.

I currently do not have the board sitting in my rig at the moment however I have ordered it so i can overclock my i5 2500k to 4.2ghz (I also got a hyper 212x cooler for this OC)

https://i.gyazo.com/6f12e8d4895e00f6f7aee6a44e77fca9.png this is a picture of the bios (low quality however, i got it from a manual online http://download.asrock.com/manual/H61M-VG4.pdf)

If someone could explain this to me it would be greatly appreciated as I personally have no idea what any of this means. This will be my first OC and I dont want to mess this up.

Thanks

My rig:
i5 2500k
rx 480 (8gb)
Hyperx fury 16gb ram

Solution
Your CPU's turbo is 3.7GHz and if you can get that to work with bclk OC of 2~4 its possible to get 3.85Ghz. That is well below you wanting a 4.2Ghz base clock so the Z77 or Z68 is only real get to that point.

This could be correct however, trying to find one for my LGA1155 socket is next to impossible without spending 100's on one. This is why I chose the H61

Your 2500k is a proven good overclocker so ideally a board that fully supports this would be good though I understand there'd be an additional cost (it'd be a shame if you couldn't get something like a P67 series at an affordable cost since the chipset is some years old now...ebay?

Since I'm not familiar with these models, what made you change to the Gigabyte model, especially since they're both H61?

As far as I know best you can do is a small bclk OC and try to stick the CPU in boost on that motherboard. You should get a z77 motherboard or the z68 that support the CPU. Look on eBay as it's about the only place to find them at good prices.

I am not too sure, I saw the manual and it said "OC Tweaker" and since I am a newb when it comes to OCing, My eyes lit up in excitement and bought one for £45.00 which is cheap!

Most board marketing/manuals normally includes 'tweaking' talk. If you can, you might want to return & get a refund on the new Gigabyte board since it looks like it has no overclocking advantage over your current board, unless Gigabyte says otherwise, or has new features you need. For peace of mind and confirmation, Google "GA-H61M-DS2 review" for much more info than we can provide. A 300-500MHz boost won't be noticeable at all.

Also, how much would a turbo boost be? in ghz and how much of an impact would that make do you reckon?
