Only some random games (even old ones) freeze after playing for a while

Hi, since I bought my pre-built computer (Alienware X51) some of the games (even old ones which don't need a good computer) I play, keep crashing after a while. It's weird because the games which crash and the time that passes until it does seems pretty random. Anyways, when I have this problem, it happens this way: firstly I start playing and after 15-60 mins, the game freezes, I stop the process, if I try to restart the game, I play for a while and the same thing happens but earlier than before. It doesn't matter if I wait for hours to restart the game, the game will always work for fewer minutes than the last time. It only lasts longer when I restart the computer. The computer doesn't cause any problem when I'm doing other things (watching videos, browsing the Internet, using software that needs decent specs...).

These are my specs:
Alienware X51 : Matte Stealth Black Chassis
Processor : Intel Core i7-3770 (3.40GHz, 8MB L3 Cache, 4C)
Memory : 8192MB (2x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
Hard Drive : 1TB Serial ATA HDD (7,200 rpm)
Hard Drive: 125GB Kingsron SSDNow KC300
Power Supply : Alienware 330W AC Adapter
Graphics : 1.5GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
Audio : Internal High-Definition 7.1 Performance Audio
Wireless : Integrated 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi Wireless LAN

Due to the nature of the issue I isolated the problem in the GPU. I have NVIDIA GeForce Experience so it detects perfectly my GPU and the drivers are totally updated and reinstalled several times (just in case). My guess is that since the GPU has 1.5GB, it's not enough to keep some games, but it's pretty weird this things happen playing 9 year-old games.

I hope you can help me. Thank you.

Yes, this is a problem on the graphics processor. Games don't freeze like that if 1.5 GB isn't enough. Your GPU also uses some of your PC's RAM and uses it for VRAM. for all I know is that I used my 512mb GeForce 315 and played GTA 5 on it successfully, albeit at really unplayable FPS, but it did not freeze like what happened to yours. Have you tried to re-install the graphics drivers? Sounds to me that your graphics processor itself is malfunctioning. Did you overclock your GPU?

Yes, I reinstalled the drivers several times, but this kind of problems keep appearing randomly from time to time in specific games. I didn't overclocked my GPU. If it's unfixable then I'll replace it, but first I would like to try all the possiblities.
