I have my voltage set to 1.2 volts in the bios but in core temp its being reported at upwards of 1.3 volts and higher. What's causing this and how do I fix it? Thanks

A reading on the board is probably the best place to truly get a voltage reading.
Idle might make it high.
The BIOS could have an error.
You could Google the problem and see if similar answers come up. Which could result in a BIOS update or downgrade.
Or contact and find out if you need to RMA it.
Please run only one test program at a time when making readings.

i7 6700K (Cryorig H7 cooler, not ideal for OCing but im getting water soon)
GTX 1080 (Asus OC edition)
Asus Maximus VIII Hero
1TB HDD, 250GB SSD, some DVD burner that I can't remember the exact name of
EVGA Supernova 750W P2
Windows 10 Home
If you need anything else let me know. I'll switch to HWMonitor as well.

Update: Checked HWMonitor and although the voltage isn't quite as high as CoreTemp was reporting it is still higher than I have set (~1.25V instead of ~1.3). That's at least what it says in the CPU Vcore..there's another VID setting that seems related to the processor saying the voltage is above 1.3V, so I'm not sure which to look at.

Now that you mention that it's an Asus Maximus VIII Hero, I would also like you to double check with AI Suite III. You should also be aware that there should be some leeway given to the voltages found on your app as well as the BIOS. On the topic of BIOS, I'm assuming your motherboard BIOS is up to date...?
