Hi All

I have an external hard drive plugged into into my router (Asus RT-N66U) and have been using it as a DLNA server. I used to be able to read and write from my computer directly to the drive but now I cannot write any files to the drive. I have already done a factory reset on the router and it is running the latest firmware from Asus. I dont know if something got changed during a windows update and is now not working or is there an issue with my router? I have tired using a windows 10 and 7 machines and get the same result. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go into your router some routers have a list of devices attached and an IP address Assigned or something assigned to designate it. (I've mentioned before I have not done a USB device just ethernet.) Now possibly at the bottom of explorer.exe is where you should see network connections, expand them all and you may have to supply network name and passwords.
Also you can look in Control Panel > Devices and Printers and look and see if the Device is listed. At the top of the ICONS there may be a thin very light yellow bar to turn on networking, click on it. Sometimes it will not re-appear if you close the page (On windows 7) I don't know about other OS systems or other networks. I don't do it that often. I just start into it and it's...

Linux is a little different and if you share across with windows you have certain protocol.
