Setting up Internet, where to start?

I might be the only person with this problem but how do I get internet?
I recently for a Nighthawk Router during a sale they had, whats next?
I see plans online but do I just call the company and they activate the router or??
Or do they have to come to my apartment to set it up?
Im just looking for internet without phone or tv.
ANy help will do.

What country?
What type of service?
What type of residence?

For an apartment or condo that was previously wired, they may not have to actually come there.
For a single family residence, they probably would.

Talk to whichever provider, and ask them.

USA, basic internet from Spectrum, Townhouse style apartment.
The room im putting the router in has all the wall wires already, I can hook up the router as it sits

And someone from Spectrum might have to come and actually make the physical connection between your residence and the main switchbox.

Call them and talk to a human.
Or do it online, and schedule an appointment for whatever they need.
