Okay, so today I had built my brand new gaming pc for the first time. It took a long time but I finally managed to get it all hooked up. I installed windows, downloaded my drivers for my graphics card and such. Anyways, it asked for me to restart my system and so I did. When I was faced with the windows 10 user login menu, it randomly turned off and I had no idea what was wrong with it. I figured it was no big deal as a wire or component of somesort got out of place some how, but that was not the case. I double checked every single component (including the PSU,) and nothing was wrong with anything. It just wouldn't start up no matter what I'd do. This is where I started to worry and stress that it might be my power supply that had somehow died in the 40 MINUTES of using my brand new PC. Can someone please recommend what to do? This is really disappointing and I am ashamed of corsair for possibly sending me something so defective and useless that it would only last 40 minutes of using it. I am in desperate need of help as school is starting back up soon and I NEED a computer to do my work on.

the PSU you have is a tier 4...ie very low quality. So yeah I am not surprised it may or may not have fried. I would not use anything below tier 2 and tier 1 is ideal....listed below

I would return you PSU immediately and replace it with one from tier 1 or 2 and hope to god it didn't fry any of your parts (which is a possibility). I personally like seasonic PSU but as stated any tier 1/2 will suffice.

probably a defective PSU
try to exchange it for a CX450M if possible
make sure all wires are hooked up correctly first (first in your head making a list which parts need to be connected) and double check everything is plugged in and the main switch on the PSU is turned on.

I'm sorry I'm new to this website so I don't know how to directly reply to people in threads like this.
I personally think my components are fine, the power supply hasn't done anything crazy like sparked or went up in flames or started smoking or anything. It had just turned off so until we get another power supply to test it out, I don't think my other components are fried.
Would it be possible if I got an EVGA 500w 80+ white active? A bunch of people recommended this and I just want to make sure it's good for gaming. I also don't want to spend a crazy amount of money on it, just $60 since I'm on a very tight budget

it's a low grade PSU. won't damage your system PROBABLY but overall low quality.
the Corsair CXM450 I suggested is way better (as would be a 450W XFX TS/Core/Pro)
but if your CX430 is only a few weeks old, contect the shop you bought it or Corsair directly and get a replacement unit

I trust your recommendation on the corsair CXM450, but I live in Canada so the currency is a lot different. It's about $84 here for that, and I imagine it's a lot cheaper in america like you assume it is. A lot of $500 PC builds on youtube use the EVGA power supply I had recommended so I thought it would be ideal. Do you have anything you can recommend in CANADIAN currency that's $60? Thanks
