Can Ubuntu run on 1 GHz Processor and 1GB RAM?

Will Ubuntu Desktop 16.04.1 LTS work perfectly on :--

1 GHz processor
1 GB RAM
10 GB HDD
1360×768 Monitor
I know the minimum system requirements:--

700 MHz processor (about Intel Celeron or better)
512 MB RAM
5 GB of hard-drive space (or USB stick, memory card or external drive but see LiveCD for an alternative approach)
VGA capable of 1024x768 screen resolution

I will not use many custom softwares, i will use essential softwares only.
But I want to know that this system configuration is good for Ubuntu.

Perfectly? No, not really. But it will certainly run with those resources. However, you are still near the bare minimums so expect performance and responsiveness to match.

I ran ubuntu on a virtual machine and only gave it a single processing core of my laptops haswell i3 and 2gb of ram, it certainly wasn't fluid and responsive but it worked.

If you want a graphical version it will run but a bit slower. If you do non graphical it will run great on those setups. There are also slim versions of Linux that might be better on a older system.

Lubuntu or xububtu will run much better than regular ububtu desktop. If performance not what you need then try something like puppylinux

Is it enough for basic operations? Yes.

Beyond that minimal level of use, that is not very much space.

Understood. Just keep in mind that a minimal system will perform accordingly. You can always build/use a stronger system in the future.
