Hello Tom's Hardware,

I'm currently having a bit of a dilemma regarding my Asus Z170 Pro. I have just received it with my other parts and got straight into building the computer. For reference, here are the parts I am using:
-Intel i7 6700k (4.0ghz 4 cores)
-Gigabyte GTX 1070 Founder's Edition
-16 gigabytes of DDR4 (2x8 gig strips)
-EVGA 750w PSU
-H115i CPU Cooler
-5x Corsair SP140 Case Fans
-2x Corsair SP120 Case Fans
-Asus Z170 Pro
-Corsair 750D Case
-Samsung 250 gig SSD

The reason I'm so confused with the statusof my motherboard is because I have all of my case fan 3 pin connectors connected straight to my motherboard that supports up to 4 pin fan connectors. When I first assembled everything and tried to turn the power on, the power LED on my case came on and the GTX 1070 light and fan came on (even though the 8 pin power connector was not connected to the card because I was troubleshooting before this), and the PSU fan started working. This shows that the motherboard was supplying power to the fan and the led on the gtx 1070 as well as the case power led. On the other hand, the case fans showed no sign of life at all. Does anyone have any idea what part of my computer is not working and how I should go about fixing it?

-Michael

Update 1:
Well. During troubleshooting my PSU started smoking so I immediately shut the system off. Turns out the motherboard must have been murdering it because the PSU worked fine outside of the case when it was disconnected from the motherboard. Going to ship that motherboard back asap.
