i'm having huge fps drops on every game. My fps drops from 60 to 15 almost on every game. i read on some forums that the problem is my mobo. Can i disable something on the bios like cool n quiet, c6, c1e to avoid this problem or buy a better mobo? my cpu clock is at stock frequency

my setup
cpu: fx 8320 3.5ghz (no o.c.)
ram: corsair ddr3 8gb 1600mhz
vga: sapphire nitro+ rx 480 8gb
mobo: gigabyte 78lmt-usb3

Solution
Good motherboard yes. I have myself the Gigabyte GA-990FX Gaming, very good board, don't know how much it costs for you.
But is is wise to buy a new board when RyZen is just around the corner?
Just asking... If you change your board, that means a new Windows licence, new installation, ...

yep, but do i necessarily need to buy a new mobo? i know it's the best, but disabling something on the bios would help? i can't buy a new mobo right now, the ones with 990fx chipset are too expensive on my country.

You should optimize your windows and try to lower the memory usage by shutting down unneeded services. Black viper did have a website showing all those you can change. Test your CPU for overheating as you may need a cheap heatsink like the M9a or CM212.

there's something else, the cpu use while in game is never above 50% and the gpu use is 90% then drops to 20% then goes 99%. Does this have something to do with the fps drops?

I don't think it will. Even though the 4 cores are disabled, they will still consume power.

I read that RyZen was able to really shut down some cores as really shutting them down, the technology used to make that CPU was advanced enough to allow that. The "old" FX don't have that technology.

Dunno if I make myself clear :D
But I really think I'm right :)

You need to look at the core utilization. The 50% could mean games are using 4 cores. This could be the limit of the games threading. You could also try pushing things like ts3, discord, web browsers, and such on the cores 4, 5, 6, and 7. This will leave cores 0, 1, 2, and 3 for game use only. i have just played a game with hw monitor on, when the fps drops the processor frequency keeps the same (3.700) and the temperature of the vrm and chipset aren't even above 60°C

My view is I just think his cpu is not keeping up.

games are not multithreaded. he has two cores that basically show 100% spike. (the same thing happens on my fx8350 if settings are to high for cpu to keep up though because screen shots don't tell the whole story like watching the cpu usage in real time, I wont sware by it )
