I have the error message in the header above. I connected the 8 pin vga cable to the EVGA GTX 1070 graphics card. The other end of the cable with six pins as shown in the photo on prior discussions of the same issue does not fit into the power support. I added an adaptor to make the six pin an eight pin and connected it to the power support EVGA 650G2. The connections are good. However I have the same error message. Please advise. Thanks Kieran.

Solution
Don't you have a separate 8 pin connector? The card probably thinks there's nothing plugged in because of the lack of a ground line in some pin, probably because it's not a proper adapter.

Thanks for the prompt response. I used the adaptor that came with the EVGA 1070 graphics card. I used the cord that came with the EVGA power source 650G2. The cord is 8 pin to six pin. The card slot and the power slot are both 8 pin. That's way I used the adaptor. I even went to B&H electronics store and purchased a new adaptor. Same error message. Is there an 8 pin to 8 pin cord? It was not supplied with the either EVGA product and the electronics store could not find it. Thanks.
