GPU temperature too high?

Hello.

I recently upgraded my GPU to a GTX 1060 6gb Windforce and I'm getting temperatures as high as 80C while gaming. I'm not sure if that's normal or high so that's why I'm asking. Is it safe? Will it harm the GPU? Thanks!

Solution
Although just to add: If it goes above 83C it might put its clock speeds down, to prevent it from getting hotter, also known as "thermal throttling"
Still: Anything below 90C wont damage the card with any significance, but if you wanna keep the card at its maximum clock speeds (maximum performance) you wanna keep it below 83C.
If you want the card to be cooler, make a custom fan curve.

The software is targeted at 83ºC from stock, it shouldn't go above that right?

That basically means it's aiming to keep it at around 83C. Anything below 90C is perfectly safe.
