BIOS update question

I am finishing up my first water cooling loop and getting ready to set up the PC itself finally. I am always afraid of BIOS because it at least used to be able to brick a board if it was done wrong. Is that still the case or can BIOS be manually reset now worst case scenario?

Also, is there any reason to do anything with the BIOS update on a new build?

Solution
I recommend not doing a BIOS update unless there is a reason. It's not like a regular driver, BIOS updates are less common and address specific needs or issues, like adding RAM or CPU support to general stability updates. I would finish the computer and get everything setup and if everything is stable, run with it.

It can still brick a motherboard, but there are some motherboards that have a recourse for things like power loss during the update.
