I currently have a XFX HD6870 graphics card, and have always loved my amd graphics cards. I am planning on upgrading to the RX 480 possibly and had a question.

I have 3 monitors that run on DVI, and have used 2 DVI ports on my 6870 as well as an active mini-display to DVI adapter.

Would I be able to connect all 3 of the the RX 480 display port outputs to my dvi monitors with passive adapters? How many displays would it support?

Thanks,
Happy 2017 :)

Solution
The RX 480 only has 3 DisplayPorts and 1 HDMI port, it isn't capable of having a DVI plugged into the GPU. Do you have any other ports for your monitors, DisplayPorts are the best as they support up to 4K at 60Hz, multiple video streaming, audio, and etc. If your monitors do not have the DisplayPort, I'd recommend getting DisplayPort to DVI cables, which I will link below.

Also, it should be able to support your 3 monitors, not sure about 4, but the website states that it can support up to 6 monitors with MST hub. RX 480 should support up to 2 passive adapters, if you are using more than 2 monitors, you're going to need active adapters after those 2 passive adapters. I linked you an active adapter below, which is quite cheap...

Ahh, the second part of your answer was exactly what I was looking for! Thank you!

My 6870 also only supported two passive adapters, so I will need the third one to be active.

Thanks for the reply :)
