Can I upgrade my graphics card from a gtx 970 to a 1070

If my gpu now has 6/8 pin pcie power connectors and the gpu that I want is only 8-pin, can i just use that 8 pin from the original and leave the other one unplugged?

Since U Got 8-Pin Available With ur Power Supply So Its Ok. And It Is Ok To Leave The 6Pin Connector Unplugged .

Also Smart Upgrade ;)
