I was planning on getting a new monitor and i am also currently building a PC i have RAM, PSU, CPU Cooler and peripherals (my Mech keyboard needs replacing as it is malfunctioning and keeps typing symbols from numpad area of keyboard and will see if amazon can help as i have found nothing useful for me) I am sort of budgeting but not like what most people do getting the best for $1k they can mine is a high end system with high capacity SSD as cheap as i can get it all my parts were bought on sale and i have saved like 40% total but now i list some cash as my keyboard was almost 40% off and that is a lot for the UK was my 2nd cheapest find compared to average sale price. I am planning to save soo much that i can pay for a really good monitor and keep within the average retail price of the parts by which i mean if on average my PC build was to cost £2k at average retail price and i got every component on sale i would still end up spending close to the £2k +/- and get a descent monitor as well as my PC

here is my system and the 1080 is there for a reference i may swap it for vega or RX480 Crossfire but i am more geared towards the vega architecture and for the CPU i may go Kaby Lake

1) Soo to start i want at least a 100Hz 4K or at least 144Hz 1440p monitor but as i am not sure which GPU to get i am not sure if i will need a Freesync or G-Sync monitor
2) as AMD released new drivers a lew weeks ago which vastly improved the performance of their GPU's with people claiming that the RX470 performs as well as a 3GB GTX 1060 which is less than the 1060 as well so price/performance is soo much better for the RX470 but i want to know if Crossfiring the RX480 would be better than a 1080 as RX480 crossfire would cost me under £500 but the cheapest brand new 1080 costs just under £580 on amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-GeForce-GTX-1080-AERO/dp/B01GELBQ7Y/ref=sr_1_115?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1483427826&sr=1-115&keywords=gtx+1080) i have seen many benchmarking videos on this and the RX480 was within 20% of the performance of the 1080 but all those benchmarks were from before the groundbreaking drivers release although i may get a single RX480 and swap for a vega SLI down the road as that is said to cost less than or on par with 1070 but perform as well as 1080 or better in some titles and paired up with better drivers could be more promising

1| If you're getting AMD, stick with Freesync and if Nvidia stick with G-Sync.
2| Crossfiring an RX480 would mean more heat output and more connections to the GPU. In essence you should stick to the single most powerful GPU you can afford. If prices dropped say 5 months from the date of purchase then you can go buy a second card but in retrospect, if the titles you play don't support SLI/Crossfire, then you're just outputting heat and turn up your electricity bills.

My 2 cents
:)

i just want to know if 2 RX480's can outperform the 1080 as AMD stated this at launch in reality the performance was within 20% of the 1080 but with crimson driver updates the rx480 is now on par with the 1060 at pretty much anything but no one will do any benchmarking with crimson drivers on crossfire though i likely may not get RX480 and opt for their new vega card which is said to be less than the 1070 and perform as well as 1080

once that info is answered then i would want to know which monitor to to buy

i plan on gaming at 4K over 100 FPS in the near future i just wanted a temporary GPU and wanted to know how well does the RX480 Crossfire compare with a single 1080 as no one has done a video on this after crimson drivers were released and AMD claimed it was possible so i thought that it could be roughly the same amount of performance with RX480 Crossfire vs GTX 1080 I will be getting a new GPU in the future but at the uncertainty of performance and price of Vega and 1080Ti i just waned more info and i wanted a GPU which was really good for now

ALSO YOUR LINK IS OUTDATED (as crimson drivers were not a thing back in july) also nowadays everyone only compares RX480 WITH 1060 they do not test Crossfire performance and that was what i wanted to know
