Hey Guys,

It will be my first time building a gaming pc and also I'am just wondering if it could do 1080p60 in games like:
- Dark Souls 3 - Doom 3
- No Man's Sky - GTAV

At least on minimum settings?
This PC is only meant for gaming.

Btw. With 8GB of Ram..

Solution
If you are buying new, go with current tech i5-6600K.
Few games can use more than 2-3 threads.
The extra I7 hyperthreads will be largely unused.
If you are buying used, 4690K or 4790K is ok.

On graphics, GTX970 is stronger.
Buy the strongest graphics card you feel comfortable paying for.
GTX1060 is probably the strongest that would be appropriate for 1080P gaming.

Hello Geofelt,

I forgot to say that I'm quite on budget and i can only
buy the said GPU's and CPU's..

Btw. i7 4790k cost more like $281 than $241 i5 6600k, so i think
i will choose the i5 and 970 which is much better..
i think 970 is enough for now so that i will upgrade GPU next year
ASAP.
And also that i can see 970 outperforms 1050ti in benchmarks as well....
Thanks :D

Do you have some links to benchmarks showing that a I5-6600k with an overclock is significantly different in gaming performance than a similarly overclocked I7-6700K?

Benchmarks I have seen show them as comparable.
I might expect a I7 to do better in multiplayer games, but I have seen no controlled benchmarks of those types of games.

Firstly, I am also building a new rig and am not a fan boy, just a pure performance lover.

After a lot of thought, I have decided to go with i7, because recent games, almost all of them, perform better with i7.
Witcher 3,fallout 4, watchdogs 2.
Yes, there Is not much difference in average fps but lower fps does get affected a lot. Its just, after buying a powerful card, I don't want to compromise not being able to use it, being bottlenecked by the cpu. Buy an i7, it will keep you good for many years to come. The newer games, especially with dx 12 are going to benefit with extra cores.

Anyways, it depends on your need m8. If you can live with being bottlenecked, or sacrificing few fps here and there, go for the i5, but if you are investing so much already, better not get bottlenecked ever!

looks like in this situation, i should go for i7 for futureproofing....
I'm thinking that holding i5 until next year would be good..
So i think i need to upgrade my CPU next year along with my GPU...
At least for now i can play newer games with playable sett.

For now I'm having trouble picking the right MOBO:
- H170 Gaming 3
- Z170xp SLI
- Z170HD-3p
- Gigabyte B150m

The Kind of MOBOs that i can only afford and only available at chosen store.
But wait..
Same thing for the cooler Lol

What's the best Possible Cooler? i want to overclock i5 to 4.7ghz, also my question is would be
the listed coolers could ever handle the OC?
- CM Hyper 212 Plus
- Gigabyte G Power 2

Why would you want to spend you money again on the cpu? Spend and buy an i7 now, I made that decision and have been super happy. This way, you will be set for years with regards to cpu. You could always change GPU later

As i said I'm quite short on money rn and can't spend any more
i5 6600k is enough for me right now cause it is a decent CPU.
i will OC it as needed.
