Hello everyone,

Before I begin, I would first like to say that I did search the forums and could not find an exact response to my problem. I cannot get my RAM to operate at the correct speed or even the maximum speed listed in the specifications for my CPU.

Here is a snapshot of the memory tab on CPU-Z: Memory.jpg

Here is a list of my components:

i7-4770k
ASUS Z87 Deluxe
32 GB (4 x 8GB) G.Skill 2133 MHz RAM
2GB EVGA GTX 670 FTW edition
1 TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD

There are 2 XMP profiles listed in the BIOS and they both list the correct RAM information, speed, and timings, but neither of them go above 1066 MHz (as indicated by CPU-Z.) I know that Intel states that the memory specifications for the i7-4770k are 1333/1600, but I'm not even getting that. I don't know if this matters, but there is a SPD tab on CPU-Z (I have no idea what it's for.) On that tab it says 'Memory Slot Selection' and 'Timings Table'. Under Memory Slot Selection, all 4 of my memory sticks say the max bandwidth is 667 MHz. Under the Timings Table, it shows 4 columns (presumably 1 for each stick of RAM) and only 2 of them are using the XMP profile and are set to 1066 MHz and the other 2 are using JEDEC and are limited to 667 MHz.

Someone on another forum stated that if you OC the processor and push the RAM voltage to 1.6 - 1.65, you can get it to run at 2133 MHz. I have my i7 overclocked to 4.3 GHz and the XMP profiles show 1.6 volts for the RAM, but I'm still only getting 1066 MHz. The motherboard supports up to 3000 MHz, so I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

I know this is a long post, but if someone can help me, I would be forever grateful!

Solution
That's normal. For instance I'm running ddr3 1600 ram and my frequency says 800mhz. Keep in mind that it's ddr, double data rate memory. Meaning the effective speed is double the actual speed, double 800mhz is 1600mhz, double 1066.5 is 2133mhz.

That's a copy of mine.
Hi Roberto :)

You have two XMP profiles which are almost the same except for command rate.
You have not mentioned what changes you have done in Bios. Probably because you have not been there.?
You should go into your Bios, press the F7 key for Advanced mode.
Now go to "AI Overclock Tuner" and change from AUTO to XMP.
This will auto optimize your CPU and bus ratio in conjunction with your choice of XMP profile.

The Bios is also where you can Tweak your CPU for more performance.

I have tried both XMP profiles, but neither of them allow the RAM clock speed to go above 1066 MHz. That is what I can't figure out. The motherboard supports up to 3000 MHz (overclocked) and the CPU supports 1333/1600, but I can't seem to get the RAM above 1066. The CPU is already overclocked from 3.5 GHz to 4.3 GHz and the voltage on the RAM is set to 1.6 Volts under the XMP profile that lists the speed as 2133 MHz, but in CPU-Z, it says the current clock speed of my RAM is 1066 MHz.

I feel like such an idiot. Thank you for explaining that to me.
