ive seen reviews that the rx 480 performs worst with directx 11 and performs good with 12 while the gtx 1060 performs good with directx 11 and worst in 12.should i get the gtx 1060 which performs good with 11 and not 12 or should i get the rx 480 which performs good with directx 12 but i want to play current and old games like gta v watch dogs 1 dishonored 2 battlefield 1 etc.

Solution
Honestly, I think it's only a matter of preference.
* GTX1060 is better in older titles, but you would still score well above 60+ FPS with the RX480 with the majority of the games.
* RX480 is better with newer/DX12 titles. For AMD, 2016 was all about DX12 and the possible benefits, etc.

So moving forward, RX480 could be a better bet with more VRAM and better DX12 performance.
If I were you, I would wait for the CES AMD Vega announcement - happening this week, more options plus possible price drops. But you could hardly go wrong with either the GTX1060 or the RX480.

I prefer sapphire, personally own a RX480 8GB NITRO+ OC. Silent and fast, plus I like the look/design as well.
Some performance comparisons with this card with newer titles:

I wanna ask, its true about the temperature reaching 70°C and the fans @ 70% sounds like an airplane? A known guy owns the Sapphire and he isn't having a good time with the card.

AMD will announce new GPU's in May. Is it worth waiting 6 more months now?

and by the time vega comes out there will be more powerful gpu schedule to release 6 months later. will you wait for that instead of buying vega? the waiting game will never end.
