This one for example
Looks dodgy in my opinion, only look at it because my extreme4 board died, and the only other boards I can find are in the £300 region, which is way out of my budget for a new mobo. There's no infomation on power phases, et cetera. I know it doesn't support i7-4xxx processors but that's not an issue because I bought a Xeon xddd.

Its a very old and low end X79 mobo (around 2011).
At a guess, it looks like 8 phase power.
Your Xeon is LGA 2011 and not 2011-3, right?
The seller has said it's brand is "Unbranded/Generic". That does seem unusual.

Perhaps contact the seller and ask for Brand and model so you can look it up. If they won't tell you that, then yeah, stay away from it.

Yeah, it's 2011, I've had it for around a Year, I got it for free, my dads company were throwing away an old server, they let him take it and he took it to see if it was of any value, so I've been using that with 24gb of ECC ram since, just put it in new case, its a fucking beast. E5-2670.

I don't understand why they threw it. Still a great performing machine, apparently it was because it was the hard drives failed or some shite, and the motherboards bios was all messed up. I don't think they had a tech guy or anything and they were already downsizing so I think they were just looking for an excuse to throw it. It's seemed like waste tbh. I put in an old hard drive and replaced the cmos battery and it worked, the bios still wasn't fully functional but I didn't really touch it.

I bought an intel x79 lga2011 mobo from ebay. as soon as I opened the box I knew it was a fake. no labelling, no sign of the word intel anywhere on the mobo. and it did not work. so its on its way bac. to china. but I see a lot of the same board on afew websites.
