Help with i3 4160.

Hello guys recently I bought an i7 4790k and realised that I have to update my BIOS for my motherboard which is an z87-k. My dad is going to buy a media pc and it has a i3 4160 will I be able to use the i3 4160 to update my bios or i will have the same problem.

assuming the way they are numbering their bios is in a sensible fashion--ie lower numbers are earlier version

looks very likely as says from version 0309
