How to make my GTX970 as a primary GPU?

Im getting low FPS on some games (rust ARK 15-30) and some people told me that maybe i need to set my GPU as primary GPU..
I dont know if i done this, how do i check/do it?
Thanks in advance

i dont have any thing in the NVIDIA control panel like High performance..

The cable from the monitor, is it connected to the slot in the back that is your 970, or to the slot in the back that goes to your motherboard?

Nowadays many motherboards have video ports for the igpu(don't know of your does or not as the onlt specs you posted is your gpu). If you have the monitor plugged into the motherboard then you are using the igpu and not the GTX 970. To use the GTX 970 the monitor has to be plugged into the 970.

OK the slot where you plugged in your 970, that is where your monitor should be plugged into.

Shut off your pc, remove the battery for a few minutes, put it back, and reboot. See if that does it.

Normally as soon as you plug in an external card (like your 970) your Motherboard adapter should auto disable. You may need to make sure your 970 is not loose and it has the additional power connections required for it to run.

Make sure you have the current drivers for your 970 from NVidia and you should be good to go.

What adapter are you using? What monitor? I'm not aware of any 970s that have a vga port most require a dvi-i to vga adapter.

You've been wasting that card for more than a year. You were never really using it as you were connected to the motherboard.

As bignastyid stated, do you have an adapter connected that lets it work on your monitor?

That monitor has a DVI input try using a DVI cable from the gpu to the monitor.

Let's make sure:

You have a GTX 970 installed in your PC. At the back of the GTX 970 there are ports. These ports should connect to the cable connected to your Monitor.

Do not connect to any other ports on your PC, just the one on the back of your 970. You may have to use an adapter. But you should be using a DVI cable. DVI cables usually have white connectors.

You should not be connecting to the motherboard.

You should be connecting to you GPU the GTX 970.

Bottom Top does not matter.

Just make sure you're connected to the GPU.
