I recently bought a new PSU ( Corsair RM750x ) and a new GPU ( Asus GTX 1080 ). I noticed that the Strix recquires an 8 and 6 pin cable, which my old PSU did not include. However the corsair does have one. Is it safe to use that cable into the old psu to power the Strix.

Note:
I do know that I can use the corsair PSU but unfortunately my computer won't power up with it. Im currently also trying to solve thag, but I first want to know the answer to my question.

Solution
Don't risk it, especially not with such an expensive card. Not all PSU cables are wired the same way even if they look exactly the same, and using the wrong one could fry your components. Always use the cables that came with your PSU, or replacements specifically designed for that PSU.

Check the old PSU manufacturer's web site and see if they can send you the cable you need, or wait until you get the Corsair working.
