Hi, I just moved to a new apartment and I'm having problems. My i5-6500 with a Coolermaster T2 has always stayed 28-32 degrees C at idle, about 45 under load when I play CS Go. I just finished moving in and setting up and I boot up CS Go and play for a bit, noticing the game is crashing on me and my PC is just acting funny. So I go to HWMonitor and boy to my surprise I was rocking 95 degrees Celsius. My heart almost stopped. The only key difference I can think of between here and my last apartment was the former had hardwood flooring and this place is carpet, and when my PC was running 95c it was on the carpet. I didn't think the carpet would be a big deal since I'm usually 28-32c at idle, 45 under load, and so I'm here to ask you guys: is this a problem with my heatsink, or could it simply be placing the PC on the carpet? Please help me! Thank you

Is the carpet blocking an intake on the bottom of your case? It's possible that during your move you loosened up the bond between the heatsink on your CPU and your cooler. That's why it's recommended that people with large coolers remove them during transport or be extra careful. Also, are you sure your fan is working? I opened my case yesterday morning and discovered my CPU fan was dead but I was only sitting at 52-57 degrees anyways while playing. I guess my CoolerMaster Hyper 612 works pretty well passively.
Yes the fans are working fine and there are a couple of intakes on the bottom of the PC. I got the temperature back down to the low 30s idle when I set it on top of glass. I don't think the PC shook much if any when transporting it because I had it in a seat belt, lol. It was strapped in pretty good. I'm going to turn off the PC for an hour or 2 and restart it when it has cooled all the way down. I'll rerun some games or stress test it then and get back to you! Thanks
The heatsink indeed was slightly loose and wasn't making proper contact with the CPU anymore. My Coolermaster T2 seems to be cheaply made when it comes to the thumbscrews used. Do you suggest replacing it with the stock heatsink that came with my i5-6500? Or should I get something like the 212?

I'm glad you got it figured out. I myself opened my case the other day to do some maintenance and discovered my CPU cooler fan was SEIZED lol. It would barely spin by hand, I've been running my PC with passive cooling for who knows how long haha. Highest temps I was seeing was in the mid to upper 50c. I have a CoolerMaster Hyper 612

it's pretty large but if you have the space I'd say it's a pretty good cooler. Usually I go with the highest end air coolers money can buy but this was the best I could find locally and it was a 'I need it now' kind of deal. There are lots of great coolers out there, Toms reviewed the Cryorig R1 cooler and gave it a great review, you might want to check it out.
