Hello everyone,

I had to reinstall my OS (Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit), since I didn't have a copy of Windows, I gave it to a service man, who did it, but, he didn't back-up my Documents folder. All I need is that folder, because it has my most important data. So is there any paid/free guarnteed software, which will help me recover alteast anything of my data? Thanks in advance.

Solution
guaranteed to work? no

but try recuva from people who make ccleaner

i have recovered stuff before after some one did the same thing

most important dont keep doing stuff on it the more you do the less chance you will have

If you want to recover the files that haven't yet been overwritten, be sure to remove your hard drive from your system and scan it with another system, recovering the files to any drive but the drive from which you are attempting to recover. Although it costs a few bucks, I suggest you consider using the R-Studio(a data recovery program frequently used by data recovery professionals) and do a full scan of the drive. The demo is free and you need only pay if you want to save the results out.

It is unlikely that you will find many or any of the original MFT records, which means that you will be only finding your files in their RAW format, without file or folder names.

On a side note, if your technician is the one who lost your data, why aren't they covering the cost of your sending the drive to a professional data recovery service. They would have the best chance of recovering anything. In theory, they should be paying for the recovery, even if only 1 file is recovered...no matter the cost. Just don't let them do it...they have done enough...and will probably just kill any chance for any files to be recovered.
