Ok, so I have searched and used all the info in this forum I could find but still stuck. I have an HP Pavilian a6814y PC and I just tried installing a Radeon RX 460 4Gig GDDR5

It took some doing to get the card locked in but I did. Here is my problem. There is a 3 part plugin for the power supply. 1 end is a 6 hole that goes directly into the Graphics card. The other end has two plug ins with 3 prongs and a hole on each one. (Both the same).

I have no place (that I can find) to plug the graphics processor into a power source.

Is my graphics card too big for my power supply?

PLEASE HELP!!

Solution
Well, you could exchange the 460 for another 460 which does not require you to plug it into the power supply. Some 460s require nothing more than plugging it into the motherboard slot.
The 3 pronged connectors are called MOLEX connectors and are for older hardware and fan controllers. You will most likely need to replace your power supply if you want to use your new graphics card as I wouldn't suggest using it with a 2 molex to 6pin connector off a crappy 300W PSU.

@chemmajorp53 if the molex connectors are for older hardware and I have an older "crappy" psu wouldn't that be a good thing? I'm sorry but I'm not understanding.

Will the graphics card work with my pc or nah? Doesn't sound like it so far.... I have 15 days to take it back. Sounds like I should either take back the g card or save up a little more $ and buy a decent tower with an integrated graphics card and just put my new g card in my new tower???

chemmajorp53 is correct, your PSU is a generic/HP Power supply and not recommended for a gaming system, you will need to get a new PSU, preferably from a reputed brand such as Corsair, Seasonic, EVGA etc.. and make sure it is 80+ efficiency certified and at least 450 Watts to give you more headroom for future upgrades. I wanna add that the CPU, an intel pentium dual core LGA 775 is quite old and would severely bottleneck the RX 460.. i would recommend a full system upgrade, if thats not possible, at least get a Core2Quad as this will help a lot in modern AAA titles

Still, would you recommend using a recently released mid range GPU with a 10 or so year old low end/Budget CPU??

Thanks to all of you. The only reason I got the graphics card is because I play a game online called "TheHunter". My computer plays the game on low-medium settings. I was just looking to give th graphics a little more power so I could up the settings to high. I didn't want to have to buy a whole new tower just to play the game on high settings as it's the ONLY game I play.

I'm by no means into serious computer gaming. I just want the animals to look a little crisper.

Can you reccomed any 460's that don't require a plug in? I could possible even go lower on a graphics card but this was the lowest one I could find.
