Hi folks,

I have an i7 5930K processor with a sabertooth X99 motherboard with a a quad channel kit of 16GB. The specifications as follows:

G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Memory Kit Model F4-3000C15Q-16GRBB

I want to add more RAM, the more the better, for profession use. I would like a minimum of 32GB. I also found a kit of 32GB that looks good:

G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Intel X99 Platform Extreme Performance Memory Model F4-3000C15Q-32GRBB.

What are my best options? This is a bit confusing and I would like the best performance possible.

1. Would I be able to keep the old and new Kit? so this will be a total of 48GB of RAM. 2 kits in their own quad channel mode. I have 8 slots for RAM, color coded.

2. Or should I buy the same kit again and only have 32GB. 2 kits, quad channel each.

3. Or should I buy the 32GB Kit and sell the old 16GB Kit.1 kit, quad channel.

Also, I plan to overclock my CPU slightly. This is why I am also confuse and not sure if it will have any unforeseen issues If I mix and match. Thanks.

Solution
G.Skill does not guarantee the combining of two kits will work at all or what they will run at.

Buy the 32GB Kit and sell the old 16GB Kit.1 kit, quad channel.

I went with the 32 GB kit. and I plan on installing the 16 GB kit as well. I plan on doing benchmarks before and after to compare results. anyone know the best benchmarks for free out there to use?
