Hi guys,

So Im a musician and at my first house I had problems with static sound coming through my speakers when I moved the mouse or dragged windows. I figured out it was a grounding problem and just moved my computer power to another outlet in the house.

Now i've moved and im getting the same thing except I cant get rid of it. I've got it down to a small buzz but still noticeable. Now I think it may be my PSU. When things are moving on the screen I get the buzz, so as you can imagine when playing games it gets pretty crazy. So I load up WoW and the buzz turns into a chainsaw sound. For some reason I was behind my computer and my PSU was making the exact same sound...

So are my speakers (JBL 308) picking up my PSU? My speakers are powered from a different outlet on the wall, in another room... the only thing I can think of is my Sound Card (Steinberg UR22) picking it up through its USB power to my computer? Thanks!

I dont think I have. It's just a home studio with two studio monitors, a computer, and a MIDI keyboard. I have the speakers on one outlet and my computer on a different outlet. Both using surge protectors.

Nope. Been at this for a couple days and i've managed to get a lower buzz but not like I had it in my last place. No parts have changed since my move or anything. So weird...

Just tried. Nope it seems to be worse when everything is plugged together. Probably a grounding problem when it's like that. That's what happened at my last place and when i moved the speakers to another outlet it stopped. It's not this time. Last time I didnt hear my PSU either and this time I do, so maybe it is still the PSU. Just tried my laptop and that sounds fine. So it's not the Sound Card. So weird...

For my set up, I have 1 power strip connected to my 4 monitors and 2 sound systems (a 2.1 setup and a 5.1 setup), the second power strip is connected to my 2 computer towers, both of these go to the same outlet. my 2 yamaha keyboards are connected to a separate powerstrip at the next outlet down the wall.

Im having a similar problems right now. Pluging the speakers into a diferent outlet helps but im hearing the noise in headphones aswell. The noises are attached to the movements on the screen

My story:
I have recently got my new PC done but it has some really weird sound issues.
I was hearing loud peeping and farting sounds from my speakers when the system booted. There were silent "zzzzzzzz" s when i moved the cursor on the screen and louder noises when there were bigger movement on the screen. The unwanted sounds were attached to the movements on the screen in general. When i started a game the game sounds were hardly hearable over all the noises and "zzzzzz"s and fart sounds.
Everything was ok with headphones or when the amplifier's power adapter were pluged into a power source that were separated of the one that the PC were pluged in to.
There were no noises or they were very silent in the headphones first but soon i started hearing them there aswell. Still attached to the movements on my screen.
The noises seem to be controlled by the GPU (EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Superclocked) work because the higher is the GPU usage the more horrible are the noises. I thought that the soundcard on the MB (MSI X370 Gaming Pro) is defected or my GPU is somehow leaking some kind of elecrical noises.
Today, thinking of the probably bad soundcard, i tried an USB soundcard that came with my Hyperx headphones. With the headphones everything was godlike but when i later pluged my speakers in the nightmare was back immidiately.
The problem IS NOT in my speaker set because 1. with my lap-top everything was allways fine, 2. i tried diferent (USB powered) speakers too - same result and 3. the noises were in headphones aswell.
I hope someone can tell me what's going on. Im really depressed because of this allready ;-;
