I have an AMD R9 380X graphics card that I've had for about 6 months. I just bought parts to build a new PC, using some parts from my old gaming computer that's only a year old. I re-used my RAM, PSU, and graphics. All 3 of these parts I replaced about 4 - 6 months ago. It went really well, but then started having major problems with Windows. My shut down command wasn't working right, and I tried everything in my power to make it work again. But all of that doesn't matter in this thread. I need help troubleshooting. I finally finished building my new PC, and got a new fresh copy of windows installed in my new SSD. This was when I had trouble. The first thing I did once I installed windows, was to install my motherboard drivers so I could get internet. I started and finished downloading the first driver, restarted like it always does, and nothing showed up. I waited, and waited, and waited, then tried a hard reset just to see if something bugged out. NOTHING IS SHOWING UP ON MY SCREEN!!! I know it isn't a connection problem, or else my monitor would tell me. IT WAS JUST WORKING!!!! Can somebody please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Do I need to put a different graphics card in and download the drivers to see if it will help? I've only built a few builds no I'm still kinda new at this. Sorry this is so long.

Hi,

I thought you were able to see bios settings. Things you can try:
1- Change cable between monitor - PC.
2- If you have an integrated GPU try to connect to it and see if your PC works or not.
3- Check that all components are installed correctly, and if you suspect any dust came to any slot try to clean them.

The problem it can be the GPU, but it might be something else.

Hi,

What you can start with, try to log into Safe mode. If it works then the driver you installed is not compatible and you can remove it from the safe mode.

Try that, and let us know,

I wish I could... every time I turn on my comp, literally nothing comes up. Not even my bios, the windows logo, nothing. It's just completely black. I guess I should just get a new one. Do you think I could buy a cheap GPU just to install my graphics drivers for the one i have now? Or do you think it's a MB problem? I'm just trying to find ideas.

Someone else literally just had this issue,

Remove your GPU and use your onboard graphics card to start up windows.
After it starts up do your usual thing and get your computer online.

After you do this, shut down your PC, put your GPU back into your computer, and start it again.
You may need to restart a couple of times for it to work.

When windows loads it should install the basic drivers for the GPU, after it does that then you can go on the manufacturers website and download the updated drivers for that specific model.

Try change the PCIE slot that that GPU is in, always worth a shot.

So apparently, it was my cord. I had a long DVI cord I bought for really cheap and replaced it with a not so cheap hdmi cord and haven't had any problems with it since. Thanks guys for the other troubleshooting tips. I will use these in the future if I need it. On the other hand, is anyone good at figuring out why my Ethernet isn't working right?
