FIrst of all , here's my rig :

Asus M5A97 R2.0
8 GB Corsair Vengeance ( 1600 MHz)
AMD Fx 6300
Zotac Nvidia GTX 770 AMP Edition
Corsair VS650W PSU
Windows 10 ( Not Activated though )

So , I have a WD My Passport 1 TB HDD that supports USB 3.0 SS ( has a blue male USB connector which should be enough to say that it does support USB 3.0 ) . It works just fine when I plug it into my other ( USB 2.0 ) ports but if I plug it into my USB 3.0 SS port , the HDD's light does glow up but nothing happens/shows on the screen , absolutely nothing at all , as if the port is still empty . I'm pretty sure the port isn't fried or physically damaged because my other USB 2.0 devices work fine on this very port that has a , "USB 3.0 UASP " title written right next to it . Also , just for whatever reason, my rig is almost 3 years old and I don't remember ever using the USB 3.0 port ( don't know why I said that but whatever ) , I never had to transfer any big files so I guess the need of USB 3.0 never really bothered me , I think I'd be wasting my money if I don't utilize the product . So , in a nutshell , I plug a USB 2.0 flash drive into my USB 3.0 UASP port , it shows up on my screen , works good and all , but nothing happens when plugging my WD MyPassport HDD . I think it's a driver issue & yes I have also read a good amount of threads very similar to this one but nothing really helped . All the drivers I could find , I have installed . Thanks !!

Hey there, @CountMeIn!

I'm sorry to hear about your connectivity issues with the USB 3.0 port and the WD My Passport. I'd advise you to go to the motherboard manufacturer's official website and make sure you have the latest USB 3.0 Hub controller drivers for your model. It's recommended that you refer to the hardware manufacturer when updating the drivers. You could also try re-installing the USB hub controller ones altogether.
I also checked your mobo specs and saw that you have 4 x USB 3.0 ports in total. I'd strongly recommend you try swapping between all of the them and see if the WD My Passport will pop up properly. If you are using the 2 at the front, you should definitely check the connectivity with the back USB 3.0 ports. They...

If you are using the 2 at the front, you should definitely check the connectivity with the back USB 3.0 ports. They usually work better. I'd also suggest you try using a different USB 3.0 cable with the external drive and see how it will get recognized afterwards. If you also have access to another working PC with such ports, try plugging the drive there as well.

Hope it helps. Keep me posted.
