Hi I just got the Gigabyte Z97-D3 mobo and ordered the HyperX ddr3 2133hmz (however I can cancel it, if needed). I was just reading the manual for the mobo and it says that it supports ddr3 ram of 1333mhz and 1600mhz but says nothing about 2133?

Is this a problem?

Many thanks, Harry :).

Solution
Hi, no, this is not a problem. If the motherboard supports only up to 1600mhz DDR3, the RAM installed (if higher than supported clock) will automatically underclock to the supported speed and it should work no problem.

Exactly as said above.

It's not a real problem, the only thing is that your RAM won't work at it's full capacity(speed) as it will slow down it's clock to match the mobo's max speed.

It will work perfectly nonetheless, just a little slower.
And the difference won't be reeally noticeable, you can rest easy on that aspect as well.
