So the other day I my computer started acting all sluggish, and I have no clue why. I just got a new hard drive and it was running fine then one day I booted it up and it took forever. When it finally loaded my apps took so long to open and sometimes it would just crash. I would say it was virus but I haven't had this hard drive long at all. I primarily use this computer to game on and my games do not lag, but sometimes it takes forever for them to load and it says my disk %is always at 100. Also, it said I had a java script error so I updated java which seemed to temporarily fix it. I'm coming on here hoping someone knows something, before I take it to a shop

Try disabling SuperFetch and Windows Search.

Winkey + R > services.msc > Disable them and go their properties set " Startup " to " disabled ". After disabling both, open up task manager, wait at least a minute and see if usage drops, it helped me.

I'll help you.

Sounds like something is constantly reading and writing to your disk causing it to drastically slow down. It should show what process it is in task manager. I'd also suggest downloading a program called Crystal Disk Info to check the health of your HDD.

Idk but your probelm may be that you have your usable ram set too low. I wanted my pc to become faster so i watched 20 things that will make pc faster and i think i may have done something wrong because when i did all the things in the video i restarted my pc and it became very slow. I barely could even open programs. I thought i had deleted some files or something so i tried to restore all settings from recent windows restore point but it didn't help. I wanted to take my pc to fix it but when i opened computers properties i saw 8gb (256mb usable) and felt stupid. If you have this problem search msconfig and go to boot and press advanced options and tick the box with maximum memory and restart pc. It now is going fast af.
