Hi I'm looking to upgrade my Fx-6300 with a either a an i5 4690k or an i7 4770 and need help deciding (both are the same price where I live)

Yeah I've looking to stay with windows 7 so I'm going to upgrade to 1150 socket and I'am split. Is Skylake is still windows 10 only?

Windows 8 and 10. Getting 7 to work with Skylake is possible, but you have to jump through a lot of hoops to get it to work.

you can run Win7 on Skylake processors, Kaby Lake is iffy. However neither of the CPU's you mentioned are skylake they are haswell

I know, I was going to buy a haswell cpu because I read that skylake will not support win 7.

Technically it is the other way around, Windows 7 does not support Skylake as Microsoft is not adding driver support for them.. However professionally i have installed Windows 7 on Skylake i5 based systems without issue.
