So yes, things changed... I recently bought a 28" 4K monitor and my GTX 960 2gb (which is heavily overclocked) can run the most games in low/medium settings with around 60fps. I play games like GTA 5, Project CARS and Overwatch... But I want to play those games with higher settings, and I dont want to go back to 1440p. I doubt about getting the GTX 1060 6gb (and overclock that card) or the RX 480 8gb. I want the card that is the most future-proof. What do you think is the best card? I know there are many other threads about these 2 cards, but none of them are talking about 4K. Btw my CPU is an Intel i7 4790. Thank you in advance.

The Rx 480 and GTX 1060 are really 1080p cards. Even the GTX 1070 is really only suited to 1440p. For 4K with any sort of detail settings you want a GTX 1080 or even better wait on the 1080 Ti or whatever AMD's higher end offering ends up being.

If you're OK with less demanding games and low detail settings obviously you can get by with lower end cards.

Thanks for the answers, my budget is exactly the price of the GTX 1060 or the RX 480, so I cant buy a GTX 1070. But my GTX 960 can play all my games in 4K with 60fps, so the GTX 1060 or the RX 480 will do it better then? I mean higher settings with still 60fps. Which is better?

2016 has been the year of AMD in terms of good drivers, whilst Nvidia took some blows. You'll find better feedback for AMD's drivers right now.

My NITRO+ OC barely goes over 60 degrees most of the time at fan speeds between 35-45%, usually doesn't go higher so It's barely audible. This is the result of undervolting the graphics card from 1150 mV to 1050 mV at 1300 Mhz core clock & 2000 Mhz memory clock. In comparison, without undervolting needed, the GTX 1060 runs a bit cooler and is a bit more efficient using 30 watts less on average.

If you want to overclock a lot take the XFX GTR. It's pretty good for it.

Not really, based on pretty much every review I looked at (and I looked at a number as I recently purchased an RX480 and spent a while researching different models). Most reviewers could only get up to about 1375 MHz, so less than ~9% improvement over reference clocks.

From what I have seen many of the highest OCs are with MSI gaming X cards. Have not OCed this one yet so cannot say from personal experience. It runs cool & quiet at factory speeds.
