Is my CPU too hot and how can I cool it?

I have an i5 4670k with the stock cooler and don't overclock and have happily played games for 2 years with a GTX 660 and 1600mhz corsair ram. For Christmas I got a new GTX 1060 6gb as seen here:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-Nvidia-1060-GDDR5-PCI-E/dp/B01K7I7M00/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1483572803&sr=1-1&keywords=gtx+1060

and replaced my ram with HyperX fury @1866mhz:

All my games run great but my computer is a lot noisier, I checked the CPU temp and it is idling at 60 degrees and hitting 80 when gaming.Firstly, are these temperatures acceptable? I have dusted it but apart from that what can I do to cool it? Should I get an aftermarket cooler and if so could somebody please link me to a good one, thank you.

the airflow could definitely be better as i barely did any cable management because it was my first build, there are loads of fans built into the case though, 4 i think. one on each side panel that take cool air from outside and blow it in. Then there is the standard fan at the top of the back of the case and one on the ceiling. I can't really speak for how good the airflow is because i dont really know anything about it and didnt manually install any of the fans, they came ready installed into the case (which is a zalman z11)

i have a old case with two fans in the left pannel, i suspect that they are basically doing nothing since the air goes directly against the video card and surely never goes farther than there

if it is your first build and the case doesn't let you do any real cable management, do what most of us used to do, push the cablesabove the optical drive or in the are behind the hard disk against the right panel

i don't recommend to use zip ties but there are other options to do some basic cable management that could help you

something i have found useful for pcs latelly is put a big fan taking air inside in the front of the case, old cases will not let you do anything there but some will, i would move one of the fans on the panel if possible to that area to see if that helps

also, the cpu fan, have you tried to run the pc with the case opened? do you see inmediate noise reduction and temperature reduction on the cpu?

if that happenms definitively some cable management and fans rearrangement will help you

Hi, here are some pictures of the cable management:

it's pretty bad I know, but the management around the cpu heatsink shouldn't block airflow enough to make it reach 80 degrees when playing a game like overwatch should it? I think my best bet would be to just buy a new cpu cooler but I don't really know of any good ones to get as I have a budget of about £25 ($30) and that includes: thermal paste, rubbing alchohol and lint free cloth.

sorry i can't open the images to look them

if yhe fans that move air not that hard and fast are blocked by many cables, the airflow, well, doesn't happen, so all you have is cpu fan and the fan takin hot air out, this iirc is negative pressure, it doesn't work that well from my experience

it is good to have lots of cold air pushed in and one or two pushing hot air out

about cpu coolers, everybody buys evo 212

Hi thanks for the reply, I'm going to get a 212 evo. My case opens up and I can see the mounting holes on the back of the motherboard to install a heatsink backplate, do you think im alright to install it without taking the motherboard out of the case?

if the back of the mainboard is completelly visible, yes

since most cases block completely the mainboard, just unplug psu, cables , video card and take it out

it is more fun than you might think

take pictures of every cable and where it was so when you reassemble it, is just a matter of plug everything back
