Community,

Initially had issues with no signal on my monitor. After hours of troubleshooting found out online that its due to a new graphics card being inserted into the MOBO disabling the on board graphics. In addition VGA to the MOBO wouldnt work and HDMI to the MOBO or GPU wouldnt work.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, HDMI to the MOBO wouldnt work either because it's a new card, as such I'd need to download drivers and follow its installation manual.

ISSUE: My current issue is I've removed the GPU and I get monitor signal fine. At this point I'm really at a loss for what to do. If i disable onboard graphics and simply try to put in my graphics card back in I'm scared i wont get signal because my GPU has no VGA slot (GTX 1060 extreme). As such, should I buy an HDMI to VGA adapter so I can see what I'm doing and install drivers? Or am I ok to just disable onboard display via device manager, shut off PC, slot GPU, and restart my PC?

Did you change the settings in Windows? You have to set the displays. Go to Screen resolution section (right click on desktop), and see what options you have. You supposed to have that monitor detected. If not, click "Detect". Play with it. It remembers old monitor setting. Also- do you have signal to your graphic card while in BIOS? Try to unplug monitor from onboard graphics and leave ONLY monitor connected to dedicated card (PCIE). See if it has signal while in BIOS, then proceed to boot Windows. Also you supposed to be able to use BOTH video cards. Find out what the setting it is in BIOS. That way you would be able to see your both (amusing you have 2 monitors) and set monitors in settings.

I don't think you need to have graphics card connected to install drivers. Also if it is custom built computer, you can enable both cards- on board and dedicated. I do not have motherboard specific instructions, but go to the BIOS and see if there is an option to enable onboard card. I have 4 monitors and run 2 from onboard card and 2 from dedicated. Asus is my motherboard.

Update: I installed the drivers by first going into BIOS, setting display to IGP so i can see what im doing. Install Nvidia drivers all up to date. Then restarted my computer, went back to BIOS and set it to PCIE in order for my GPU to be utilized. Screen goes black again.
