(I am very new to this so I may not able to understand some instructions and is the first forum I have posted about tech.)

Basically, every time I play Overwatch (The Game) for an hour, it would either crash the game with this dialog box reading "The rendering device has been lost. Application closing!" or would freeze my entire computer and I would not be able to move my mouse. This happens to other games as well such as Sniper Elite 3, Sonic Generations and DIRT 3 Complete Edition.

My GPU does not meet the minimum requirements however I have a friend who has a lower-end laptop than mine with a lower graphics card and he is able to run Overwatch without the issues I have stated. I have no idea how to fix this as I used MSI Afterburner to check my GPU temp and the Overwatch performance stats. It showed around 40C to 60C which is a moderate temperature. I will list my computer specs down so you can hopefully find out my problem.

Computer Specs:
Nvidia GT 740 2GB DDR3
I5-4460 3.2GHz
HyperX Fury DDR4 Memory (2x4GB)
Corsair CX500 Power Supply
MSI H97M-G43
Seagate Desktop SSHD 2TB ST2000DX001
Windows 10 64bit
NZXT H440 Mid-Tower Gaming Case
(My peripherals would not matter since I received new ones after the issue started.)

Thank you for a response. I will report as soon as I try these methods.

(Update): So far, my computer has not crashed after lengthy gameplays so thank you Paul NZ for linking the pages. I had underclocked my core clock by 40 Mhz and turn up the fan speed to 55%. That was the solution.
