How to tell which firmware version a motherboard has?

I would like to know if the MSI X99A SLI PLUS ATX LGA2011-3 and the ASRock Fatal1ty X99X Killer/3.1 ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboards have P3.00 firmware due to the possibility of needing to update the BIOS if there is a chance that the 6900K doesn't work with the boards.

PC Part Picker says: "Some Intel X99 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Broadwell-E CPUs". Apparently, if the board has P3.00 firmware then it won't be an issue (so I've been told).

I've never updated the BIOS via flash drive before and it would be much easier if I didn't have to.

Thanks.

Some hare a serial number on the box and the BIOS is either part of it. Or written somewhere on the box

Only mobo that I know of (that tells you what BIOS is on it), is ASUS.

You can tell what BIOS is on it by looking at the sticker on the mobo. The last 4 numbers is the BIOS thats on it

Dont know if other mobos have the same thing, I've never built any other system but ASUS
