Sorry to hear about the problems you're having with your HDD.
I'd recommend that you try that HDD with a different computer by connecting it either externally or internally, just to check if the same thing happens and to test it with DLG, by running both test - Quick and Extended:

Basically you might have had the bad luck to stumble upon a faulty unit, but that's basically a chance everyone takes every time we buy a piece of electronic equipment. I know that doesn't make it better, but unfortunately it happens sometimes.
Let me know what happens with the tests. If the drive is faulty, you should be able to RMA it by either contacting the vendor you got it from or via our website if it's under warranty.
