ASUS PCE-AC68 on Windows 8.1 issues

I've just installed a new ASUS PCE-AC68 wireless card on my Windows 8.1 64 bit PC with a GA-Z87-D3H motherboard. I initially set it up by installing the "drivers only" off the CD that came with the device.

My computer had no problem detecting the card and after installing the drivers I was able to see all of wireless networks.

Although I had full bars I was unable to connect to my home wireless network. I was able to confirm that I was detecting both the 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands.

I tried connecting to my phones hotspot using the wireless card and had no issues accessing the internet.

I then tried installing several different versions of the driver that I got off the ASUS website with and without the utilities. I always made sure to uninstall the previous versions of the drivers and rebooting before trying a new install.

I noticed that my old dlink wireless card drivers were still installed, so I uninstalled those and tried reinstalling the ASUS drivers with no luck.

I tried the other PCIe slot on my computer. With this slot I was actually in a worse spot - for some reason I couldn't even connect to my phone hotspot. No issues detecting the wireless network and always had full bars.

I also tried deleting all of the existing WiFi networks using the netsh commands although there appeared to be no stored profiles other than what I had been trying to connect to today. Is it possible that the old profiles from the old wireless cards still exist somewhere but aren't showing up?

I have a couple more ideas to try; thinking of installing the latest broadcom drivers for my wireless card chipset, trying a completely new SSID for my wireless network, try disabling WPA2-PSK (AES/TKIP) encryption on my router to see if I can connect without encryption, reseting the netsh winsock and maybe even a motherboard BIOS update.

If anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated!

Hmm... Maybe it is the problem of your PCIe slots? Even though that would be unlikely, there's still a small chance.

I don't think old profiles from older Wi-Fi cards are still stored in the OS. Again, there IS a possibility, and I'm not an expert in Wi-Fi cards, so i'm not sure.

Have good luck!
