So my sister got new laptop and bought an external to move her photos in from her old laptop. Is there an easy way to do it?

Thanks!

Copy all the picture files, or do a search, and search only by file type(Picture formats) Jpg and so forth.

once copied, place them on an external USB and move them over, this will limit the speed to what the USB is capable of.

For the fastest results and easiest.
First make sure both computers are hard wired to the internet, Wireless is fine, but slightly slower.
Now open your laptop, right click on the folder or drive containing all of your photos you want.
Go to properties on files/folders/drive, now go to sharing, Click share this folder and create a share.

Now on the computer your moving them to, open up the computer screen, go to the left where you can see the directory, drives, and files/folders, Now click network, You...

locate your photo folder and drag that whole folder to the external device....typically it should be located in user profile, folder is called "Pictures"...you can also do a copy/paste option

If her pics are stored in a single place (User>Pictures folder?) then simply highlighting all & drag-drop would be about as easy as it gets.

If they're all over the place, there are a few programs that'll scan the whole drive for any know image file type & you can move them that way (I'm sure there's a way to do it within Windows too).

I've never used any other method other than drag-drop. Even if the images are in a few different locations, you can usually narrow it down (pictures, downloads, desktop etc).

Copy and paste them onto your target computer.
This should be extremely fast, it will migrate the files as fast as your harddrive can possibly handle, The fastest possible outcome.
