High temperatures while overclocking my 6700K

Hello, guys! I own the following setup:
i7 6700K, mobo Z170 Pro Gaming, cooler- Schytne Ninja 4 and as case Corsair Carbide SPEC-01 Red LED. The thermal paste that I applied is called Arctic Silver 5. I applied the paste when I built the computer, about 3 monthes ago, that's when I bought all components from above.
And now, after 3 months, my adventure in overclocking starts! :)
I started by watching linustechtips, did everything like him, but the temps were a bit to high, then I decided to follow Joanne's tips. ( here is her video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZe26lv7lJ4&t=4s ;). First the temps were lower, but then, same as what happened after doing what linustechtips said.
I started with 4.5ghz at 1.28v, max temp 82, average temp 66; That max temp is pretty high ! - I said to my self;
Then I decided to go up to 4.6, found that I need at least 1.33v, max temp 92, average 77; Well, f*** me, that's hot!

I did tests in Aida64 and RealBench, it seems that RealBench is pushing a little more, because of the higher temps.
So now, I want to ask you the real question. What's happening? What do I need to change?

Solution

The cooler gets mounted in the top then you can put 2X 120 or 140mm in the front and one 120mm in the back.
With the water cooler it should be no problem.

That sounds really high... My 6700k is overlocked to 5 ghz at it tops out at about 79c or so when benchmarking... A couple of things you might consider... When you put on your paste, did you put it on thick? That can actually make your chip run hotter...

I have used artic 5 in the past and it works pretty well... I'm currently using tuniq tx-4 and I'm pretty happy with it...

You're cooler looks like a massive monster, so I don't think that is the problem... You might try a very thin layer of thermal paste so you get a maximum amount of heat transfer... If that doesn't work and you have good air flow in your case, it might be that your chip is not as overclockable... I have read a couple of places that 4.6 is kinda the average range for overclocking the 6700k so yours seems like it should do that without trouble... :)

It seems like mine can't even rub 4.6 with a decent temp. I'm going to apply some paste in a few hours and coming back with the feedback. Meanwhile, I hope to get other suggestions.

Your 6700k is a special one since it can reach 5Ghz on water.

To the OP what was the voltage when the benchmark were running. Due to the nature of LLC, your cpu will probably be drawing more voltage than what was set in the bios.
Also make sure you actually reading the vcore readings, not VID.

http://imgur.com/a/fg0VZ 4.6 at 1.34 after 15 mins in aida64
4.6 at 1.34 in RealBench failed within 15mins.

So I should buy a better cooler on water and try again?!

You could if you wanted to.

As long you don't get sustained 80c+ core temps on the cpu, it's fine.

I am gonna change this ugly, gigantic cooler. I cleaned the computer of dust and when I had to put the cooler back, my gosh. Took at least 1 hour, made a cut at one finger. Please suggest me a good cooler on water and some fans for my Corsair Carbide SPEC-01 Red LED ?! I have only one fan infront.

That case isn't really designed in mind for water AIO coolers.

Your case isn't designed to accommodate the top-end water aio coolers. You could fit a 120mm aio water cpu cooler on the rear exhaust but pretty much the high-end air cpu coolers will either perform the same or be better than the 120mm aio cpu coolers.

Man, I didn't get the point. So 120mm it's the same with an high end or what?

Cases are pretty cheap for a decent case... it's the work of pretty much rebuilding my our system in a new case that is the pain in my opinion.

You could cut a case and a corsair hydro of some type for around 150 or so if you catch them on sale.
