A few days ago I purchased a nVidia GTX 1070 from Best Buy, along with a Corsair CX750M Power Supply Unit. I went home to my computer, replaced my 970 with the 1070, replaced my PSU, and booted up my computer. The graphics card is advertised as "plug and play" (where all you have to do is install new drivers, so they say), so all I did upon startup was install the new drivers to my SSD (C drive). I then went to play a game, and it gave me an error message along the lines of "Windows could not find the drive this program is installed on" or something. I went in to my file browser, only to discover my D drive (my HDD) was not showing up at all. I reset the computer, looked again and still no luck. I then tried taking the wires from my disk drive to use for my hard drive to make sure that the wire had not become faulty. Still no progress. I then tried reinstalling the old graphics card. Nothing. I have since uninstalled all of nVidias drivers and unnecessary programs on my computer. I have scanned for viruses, cleaned out my SSD and tried other small suggested solutions. The only thing I have not tried is putting my old PSU back in (which I really don't want to do).
Your first response would be to say my HDD was somehow corrupted or stopped working, and that may be the case. However, the light is still on and (I believe) the disk is still spinning.
Again, my computer is functioning normally (no matter which card I put in) other than not registering that I have a 1TB HDD.
Here is my full list of internals if any of this matters:
nVidia GTX 1070 (upgraded from 970)
Intel i7 4790k Quad Core Processor
16GB DDR3 RAM
ASRock Z97 Pro4 Motherboard
Corsair CX750M (upgraded from 600W Bronze rated PSU)
128GB Apotop SSD
1TB HDD (unknown brand, although I seem to remember it being a Seagate?)
I have talked to many experienced friends, and none of them can help me determine the cause of the issue, especially since it was working not but a few days ago.
Help!
