Hello.

Hwinfo is throwing out a drive warning, unrecoverable sectors.
This was after a sSMART erase, and SMART test saying everything is ok.
Would some one please take a peak at these screen caps and see if they can spot something, I'd appreciate it

Current Build:
Case: HAF 912
MB: Gigabyte z97X
CPU: I7-4790k {Not OC'd} W/Hyper 212
Mem: Corsair Veng Pro 2X8gb
SSD: PNY CS2211 480GB SSD
GC: MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti
Opt: LG 14X Blu-ray M-Disc CD DVD BDXL BD WH14NS40
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 80+ Full

Solution
run cristaldiskinfo

western digital also has its own tool

but if a tool is saying unrecoverable sector, well, back up asap and get a new hard drive, don't wait to see if all tools were right or wrong

I will run that as soon as possible.

Yes, I know , That is what SMART is, a WD diagnostic tool.

Hi there jetpacksam,

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive. :(
It may be a good idea to back up the data stored on the drive, until you sort this out.

As WD's DLG test claims that the HDD is in a good state, then most probably this is the case.
Yet, I would agree with atljsf. It would not hurt to test it with the tool that he has suggested. It would provide some raw SMART data.

Apart from all this, it would be a nice idea to hide the serial number when posting screenshots. :)

Let us know how this goes,
D_Know_WD :)

that result, those are dead sectors, soon to die hard disk, or worse, will keep a slow death for some more months

hopefully you can take all files out of it and get a new unit soon to forget this annoyance

it is worse when the hard disk gives you a surprise one day, without any warning before, i lost lots of family pictures, videos, personal files and the backup, suddenly died too

i guess that the 3,2, 1 rule does help alot, when you follow it

3 backups, 2 different types of media and 1 backup kept outside your house
