consider that ssds are meant to be installed in both desktops and laptops
the only difference between a desktop and a laptop is that the sata power cable on the desktop can give some more watts to the hard disk if it asks for it

Yeah you can, you just need a 2.5" to 3.5" mounting bracket or a case that has built in mounting brackets for 2.5" drives and SSDs like the NZXT S340/H440.

the only thing to consider is perhaps that is a hard disk, and you should have the same considerations with it as a normal hard disk
those are, temperature, vibration, movement and the noise you might hear from it when working
other than that, lots of people are doing that, one ssd and one 1 tb laptop hard disk, it seems that they are lasting as long as the desktop counterparts and they are almost as fast as those, so small and less watts, that is a sale for most
