my screen is split into 3 parts, the right hand 1/3 and the left hand 1/3 have swapped over, the center 1/3 is as it should be how do I get it back to normal?

Solution
Did you update your virus pgm and run a FULL scan?
Where did you get your wallpaper from? Most of those wallpaper download sites are loaded with viruses and malware. They just use the "free" wallpaper as a vehicle to install their crap-ware, bloatware, and virus.

Sorry about that ... Toshiba Satellite P755-S5320; Intel CORE (i3-2330M CPU2.20 GHz). Ok, I admit that I'm not VERY tech savvy so I I got that information from the Setup Utility. Mind you, I took a snap with my cell phone and can forward a copy of the screen if you'd like. I've reinstalled Windows 10 4 or 5 times since I really only use it to watch movies and TV shows since I travel a lot.

Hope this helps. If not, direct me to where I can get you what you need to assist me. I really appreciate it.

Thanks.

You can post the pic right here on the forum if you want. Upload your pic to a free server like http://imgur.com/
...then 'copy' the link they provide for pasting into this forum.

I see you have this post listed in the Vista section. Did the laptop originally have Vista? If you are using Win10 now, did you do a clean install or an upgrade of some kind?
Also...
1) does the crazy split screen appear at POST (black boot screen)?
2) How about if you enter BIOS?
3) Or if you enter Windows safe mode?

That's where the picture of my screen is posted. Sorry that it's in the wrong forum. I'm using Windows 10 and it was downloaded / upgraded from Windows 7.

So, when I press the power button, the Toshiba splash screen and you can see the split screen from there. Funny thing is, at times, I can start it and it starts normally; however, if I close the lid and it goes into sleep mode, I open it, it comes out of sleep mode split.

I've gone into my BIOS and everything "appears" normal there so entering Windows in safe mode I don't think would do anything since the split begins right from the starting splash screen.

If the split appears immediately at the POST screen, I would have to assume the problem is related to your gfx adapter. Possibly going bad. But let's try some software fixes first...
Update your virus pgm and its signatures and run a full scan.
Run Malwarebytes in case you have some poorly written malware causing the issue. https://www.malwarebytes.com/
Run CCleaner to help eliminate software conflicts and registry errors. Do the Clean and Registry portions both. https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Ok, so I ran the malwarebytes.com and it identified 11 suspected files, all quarantined. Getting ready to run the other now .... fingers crossed.

Ok, just ran both and while it did something to the Windows (looks different and my Redskins cover is gone .... minor point), it didn't work. Still criss crossed. :( Any other thoughts before I pack it up and take it to the Geek Squad) :)

Thanks.

Don't remember but I've had it about 2 years now and I also have it loaded on my uber parental nannyware work computer.

I've installed the 2 programs you mentioned and ran a full scan and a couple of things were discovered.

So, after all of the sites you gave me plus I googled driver and display drivers, I came down and took it out of "sleep" mode and it suddenly started working properly. I restarted the system just to be on the safe side and we're all good now! THANK YOU!!!!
