I recently built a new computer. This is my first build. The lights light up in the computer and all the fans run, including the CPU fan. The monitor states " no VGA connection." I had to put an adapter on the cable in order to hook it up to an order monitor. I have also tried hooking up to a TV via a regular HDMI cord. Nothing has worked.

I have gone through this checklist completely at least two times.

I have gone through the motherboard manual and rechecked the wiring at least half a dozen times.

I started with a 450 PSU and then tried a 600 PSU. Both were brand-new.

I tried Mushkin RAM first, then tried the lower power frequency Corsair brand RAM next. I tried each RAM by itself in each of the slots. It still would not work. If I take the RAM out, the motherboard speaker produces three long beeps, as expected.

I took the motherboard out of the case and manually started it by using a screwdriver. It started and ran, but still did not show on the monitor. Taking the graphics card out did not make a difference. I have tried connecting the cable to the motherboard as well as a graphics card. Neither work.

I found this build on the Tom's Hardware build forums. All parts are brand-new. I checked the motherboard compatibility and all parts appear compatible. When I touch the power button on the case, the computer powers up. When I wait a couple seconds and push the button again, the computer is able to turn off immediately.

I have taken everything apart and put the computer back together two additional times. I have read all kinds of forums and still can't figure this out. Please help, I'm utterly stumped!

This is the computer I tried to build. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/q1-2016-system-builder-marathon-662-dollar-budget-pc,4523.html

This seems obvious but I'll post it cause I wish somebody would have in my case.

I built mine 3 days ago and it turns out the monitor was on DVI instead of HDMI mode do to being connected to an old PC.. the PC was booting fine all along and I spent all day trying to troubleshoot it.
