I have been waiting to upgrade for the past few years should I bite the bullet this time around or wait some more?

I have a SandyBride I7-2600k OC to 4.8 Ghz and 32gb of ram on this board. Should I splurge for Z270 and i7-7700k with 32gb of ram? That calls for a new board, new ram and new cpu. Currently I have 980Ti graphics card and I mostly play games. The CPU is water cooled so I guess I will have to purchase a new water block for the 7700k.

Thank you

Honestly, i believe a 2600K at 4.8 should be able to last until cannonlake(10nm process) or coffee lake, which will bring 6core into mainstream mainstream segment making it more affordable. I believe that would be the right time to strike the upgrade, and where you will see a huge improvement and make the upgrade more worthwhile.

Wait for the new ryzen CPU(s). But if what AMD is saying, is bullshit, then just go for i7 7700K, but until ryzen, don't buy anything. At this time, really nothing is worth it at this point, after my oppinion.

+ Ryzen could be a 400-500$ with i7 6900K performance, as they say.
